I’m Martin, the sole proprietor of Harpenden Appliance repair and handyman services. With a background in medical laser engineering, I spent many years in the corporate and manufacturing world before returning to what I enjoy most — hands-on engineering and practical problem-solving in people’s homes.
I specialise in domestic appliance repair and also offer a range of reliable handyman services, including general household maintenance, minor plumbing repairs, flat-pack assembly, fitting shelves and curtain rails and small electrical replacements such as switches and sockets.
I am CPD accredited through the IWGE Appliance Repair Training Centre, fully insured, and committed to high standards of safety and workmanship. A 100% satisfaction guarantee is offered on all work carried out.

We aim to keep our pricing simple, transparent, and competitive. Below is a guide to our standard rates. If you’re unsure about the cost of a job, we’re always happy to provide a free, no-obligation quote for all work. Many small jobs can also be priced in advance once we understand the details.
Pricing
Our general handyman services include a £45 call-out fee, which covers the first hour of labour. Additional time is charged at £45 per hour thereafter. For larger jobs, we also offer half-day and full-day rates, which can be more cost-effective depending on the work required.
Appliance repairs are charged at £65 for the first hour, with additional time billed at £45 per hour. If replacement parts are required, these will be charged separately and discussed with you before installation.
